In the late 1800s, mysterious disappearances had occurred in a quiet town in Mexico. The disappearing people had stirred news in the country since some prominent people were involved and there is some strange pattern in every disappearance that would happen. The woman with the black choker necklace was the most mysterious among the patterns they found, because she seems to be the most out-of-place among the clues.

When the investigators searched for the woman, they found no trace of her at all except for a story about her. An old lady who got curious to the questioning in the neighborhood saw the picture of the woman who wore a black choker necklace. It is this old woman who narrated to the authorities what her presence in the picture entails.

According to the story she told, the lady in the picture was Maria, a pretty girl who had her heart broken by a man. That man who broke her heart was rich and he was the one who gave Maria her black choker necklace. Maria thought that the black choker necklace was a gift of love. But later on he found out that it seems to be just a symbol for the man that he owned her.

Angered by the ridicule she received, she vowed to protect herself and, if she can help it, others from such wretched man. By wearing the black choker necklace, this will serve to remind her and her fellow women that they should not be played with like toys.

A few days later after making that vow, she died in an accident. It is said that her spirit continues to live on to protect women from horrible men. A sign that something strange would happen to a “bad” man is when she would appear at some of the pictures that would be taken with him.

At the first three appearances, she would not be seen with a black choker necklace on her. It serves to warn those men to change their ways. However, if the men continue to do something bad, especially to women, she would then appear in the picture with the black choker necklace. After that, those men would suddenly disappear without a trace.

The story until now seems to be a legend, but time after time, some odd things would happen like this. The victims all have similar backgrounds and way of life. The authorities had never solved the mystery behind the disappearances. The incidents had serve as a reminder that men should be wary of playing with women because if they are not careful, a pretty girl with a black choker necklace might just suddenly appear in their photo one day, asking for retribution for all the bad things they have done to women.
